Exactly 135 days after Russell Martin's initial media briefing as the club's head coach, his replacement Danny Rohl met with the media at Rangers' stadium for the initial occasion.

The scale of the task facing him is widely recognized, considering his predecessor's chaotic and disappointing 123-day tenure.

The ex- Sheffield Wednesday boss was joined by club chairman the chairman, along with the frequently questioned pair of football director Thelwell and chief executive Patrick Stewart.

But what precisely did we learn from the 36-year-old German's first public appearance as the club's manager?

Rohl's Main Priority - Winning Comes First

A single message came through loud and clear from Rohl's first appearance in front of the Scottish media - he recognizes the necessity to win matches, and do so quickly.

His predecessor Martin managed just 17 games and 123 days as manager, so the inquiry emerged about how long the new man thinks is realistic to turn around the underperforming team.

While skillfully sidestepping a direct answer that might create later expectations, Rohl's message was quite clear.

"With hope very quickly," he stated. "That is crucial.
"In football you have not much time. One can talk about future plans but it's understood it's about the short-term and that period is about winning games. That is what I demand.
"One thing remains clear - I need all players to comprehend how we want to play. I come back to my main message: victory comes first, it's attractive and it's together. If you follow this sequence, I believe that I will remain for years at the club."

Expectations are Standard

The previous manager needed a police escort to leave the Falkirk Stadium after his final match as manager.

We've seen how toxic environments can turn at sports teams when results decline. Demonstrations have nearly become a regular aspect of the matchday atmosphere on each part of Glasgow currently.

As Rangers' youngest manager in history, the question asked about what qualities Rohl believes he possesses that would enable him to cope, never mind thrive, in one of the most pressurized roles in UK soccer?

"In my opinion pressure in this business are standard," he stated. "One needs to understand that rapidly.
"I believe some people could reference my age but I have been a decade and a half on this path. I experienced an excellent opportunity to be at Bayern Munich and serve as just the assistant manager, but I experienced the reality to manage a team and the pressure you face.
"You begin getting results and then certain people will say you must produce entertaining football. That becomes the phase but that's exactly my intention. I relish that challenge and I look forward for what's ahead."

The Sporting Director Defends Chermiti Signing & Hiring His Son

Kevin Thelwell media conference

There were plenty of questions from the media for Thelwell.

Much discussion has focused on the hiring of his son as head of recruitment, with supporters skeptical about his credentials for the role.

However, he justified and clarified the decision to bring his son to Ibrox.

"It remains uncomfortable to listen and in appearance I believe we all agreed when we took this decision to appoint him that he would be seen in a particular way," Thelwell stated.
"The reality of the situation is that we want to bring the very best talent here.
"My view on his professional path and situation is he required no my assistance in football.
"He's worked at Villa as head scout, after which he joined Norwich City as head of scouting and then got promoted to player pathways manager.
"Before we recruited him, multiple top division teams wanted to sign him. Our approach right at the beginning of the process was discuss with the CEO, the chairman and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe about this matter.
"I was extremely transparent and I think he likely underwent a stricter procedure than any other employee by this football club.
"I'm certain is that he'll labor constantly to be successful for Rangers and I'm looking forward seeing him demonstrating that he's going to be a valuable employee for the club."

Additionally, Thelwell defended the signing of forward Chermiti, who arrived at Rangers for a reported initial fee of eight million pounds, after failing to score in 24 appearances for Everton.

It was Thelwell who brought the Portugal young international to Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon - again for significant money in a £15m transfer.

The question came if he supports his multi-million pound purchase, who is yet to score in seven matches for the club.

"Yes, completely," Thelwell answered. "I believe the striker represents who's possesses huge potential.
"I haven't questioned him in any way. Similarly, I believe Danny will assist in get the best out of the player.
"These are early days for him, he's a promising prospect and of course with inexperienced players they sometimes take time.
"However, I'm convinced over the course of his time at the club he'll demonstrate that he's a highly capable player."

Stewart Acknowledges Supporters' Disappointment and Anger

The chief executive was in the media scrutiny, considering the vitriol that has been aimed at him by certain of the club's own supporters.

There was even a banner in the Sandy Jardine stand during the recent tie with United inviting Stewart - and Thelwell - to pack his bags before they were packed for him.

Like his football director, the CEO did not evade the topic.

"I totally appreciate the frustration and anger that fans are experiencing because results recently haven't met good enough and nobody's happy with them," he said.
"The hurt and frustration they feel is matched within the leadership.
"Also understand that there has to be an outlet for that dissatisfaction and as chief executive, that's me.
"I'm a lightning rod for such issues and my role as a
